This pendant consists of a tear drop shaped piece of Rutilated Quartz wrapped with silver wire hanging on a sterling chain!

how to let go

I didn't really consider this before, but now that I'm making jewelry pieces and random little sculptures I'm finding that the time I spend on each is causing me to become attached to each. So I've noticed that I've said "Oh, well I'll keep this one for myself," at least five times now and I don't even have that much stuff made yet. How can I make money if I keep everything? I've considered making things that I don't like so it will be easy to get rid of them which is completely ridiculous. I think it's possibly because some of the materials that I'm using to create these pieces I've been hanging onto for years for the day (today) that I was finally able to transform them into something better. My thought of the day

Brought to you by CU's Sculpture 2 class- spring 2010

WELDING!! This project was a lot of fun for me. We had to create a skeleton out of metal and have a skin covering it. I chose saran wrap for my skin and also put it all over in the class room. Second INSTILLATION! this is what I came up with.

For this project I made a wire sphere and then wired in hundreds of sticks. I used over 200 feet of steel wire just attaching the sticks. I had to pull an all-nighter to complete this one. I then hung it from a chain and put a light in it.

The first two photos below are of the "sketches" I made before I started this piece.

Here is the actual piece.

This was from my mold making project. The birds are made of wax and for my display I hung up ten of them up in an underpass. The one thing I didn't think of was bikers going past at very high speeds..one guy's head was with in a few inches of a bird, so glad he didn't hit any of them. After hanging them up, I photographed them as best as I could and printed the photos on rice paper which I then dipped in wax and made into a book. FIRST INSTILLATION

All of the Crazy Little Things

Here is my cardboard necklace displayer. These pieces are most of everything I've made so far. Earings are on the top and there are necklaces and some bracelets on the cardboard

Little Hands Everywhere

Here is a more recent one that I've made. I made the little bike plaque out of popsicle sticks and a very fine copper wire. It is now at All-sports Recovery Club.

So lately I have also been making these little sculptures of hands out of white sculpy baking clay, and then glue them to found objects. It is just fun little random projects that might be gifts. Also there is one foot that I have made so far, feet are a bit more difficult.

For the FUTURE

Here are some crazy sketches of some hollow-form rings and a few cut out pendants. I will be psyched to start working on these ideas soon as my torch is up and running! These pieces will require lots of soldering and filing and sawing....oh boy

wire wrapped earings

Soon as I get or make ear-wires these will be complete. I actually really like these! They are made of oxidized and brushed brass and a little copper wire with one crystal dangling from each (pink and purple). They are 1 1/8, 1 1/2, and 1 3/4 inches long.
